Nepal: Mt. Everest

6 DaysStarting at $3,595

Extend your time in Nepal with one of the most remarkable experiences anywhere in the world as you make the pilgrimage to the foot of Mt. Everest.  Like generations of mountaineers and trekkers, you visit the first staging points for their ascents. But there, your expedition takes a different course when you check into the serene and scenic comfort of the world’s highest hotel. With an experienced local trekking guide, you visit secluded Sherpa villages, meet the people who live there, and learn about their culture in the eras before and after Sir Edmund Hillary made the first successful climb in 1953.

Travel + Leisure

After your return flight from Chitwan, your local trekking guide greets you in Kathmandu. The balance of the day is yours to explore or relax. A dramatic flight to Lukla delivers you to the Gateway to Mt. Everest.

By helicopter, you make the 5-minute ascent to the world’s highest-placed hotel. All rooms have big windows and views of Mt. Everest. During your two days, you follow mountainous paths to the Sherpa villages of Khumjung and Khunde where you visit a yak farm and meet children at a school founded by Sir Edmund Hillary. At Namche Bazaar, you explore the town where mountaineers begin their acclimatization and learn about local culture as well as the history of climbing. Surrounded by astonishing views, your treks are on downhill trails, and your return to the hotel on horseback.

At the end of your high-altitude adventure, you return to Kathmandu with more time to wonder the city, maybe do a little shopping and enjoy a final Nepali dinner. On Day 6, your transfer to the airport for your flights home.
