Guides’ Favorite Moments: Costa Rica, Morocco, Croatia
You might not choose a custom travel adventure for the guide, but he or she is often what you remember best and most vividly when you return home. A guide—as much as any other aspect of your trip—can make or break the experience. They should be more than a map-reader, an agenda-follower or a spouter of statistics. A truly wonderful guide is your cultural host, a person who opens doors, reads your body language and loves to make you smile. That’s why we only work with experienced and passionate guides who proudly call our destinations home.
Our dedicated guides are your key to unlocking an authentic experience. Meet three who share some of their favorite experiences leading Classic Journeys’ trips.

“My favorite non-planned detour happened en route to Opatija. During a brief stop, a guest mentioned that her grandmother was from a village not far away. So we went in search of the house where she was born. We found the house—and met some of the guest’s distant cousins who were living there.”

“I have a degree in English literature and originally wanted to be a journalist. I channeled my natural curiosity and outgoing personality into working extensively with the U.S. Embassy in Rabat, where I guided visiting U.S. Senators and Ambassadors around Morocco, and even teamed up with Matt Lauer for an appearance on the Today show. I love dispelling preconceived notions about other cultures.”
