Cultural Walking Adventure
Itinerary at a glance
From Glasgow, we drive to Loch Lomond for an afternoon stroll to a picturesque Scottish village. En route to historic Oban (2 nights) we admire the impressive ruins of Kilchurn Castle. You enjoy the most uninhabited lands of your travels on Kerrera Island where a walk past primitive Soay sheep leads to the dramatic ruins of the McDougall's castle and a traditional picnic lunch.
We'll ferry to the Isle of Mull (2 nights). On a fine day of nature walks, we spot puffins, seals and porpoises on Staffa Island and explore a spectacular natural cathedral carved out of volcanic rock. In Tobermory, known as the most charming village in Scotland, a pub lunch is preceded by a woodland amble through foxglove and rhododendron, skirting several waterfalls. From St. Fillans (2 nights), we venture on foot into the lovely Trossach hills and visit the village of Callendar, the land of Rob Roy and Braveheart.
Our arrival in Edinburgh leaves time for an expedition into this compact city. We ascend to Edinburgh Castle, towering over the capital's heart, and walk The Royal Mile.
