We meet in the Sardinian town of Alghero (1 night), where a lovely coastal walk leads to a tour of the historic center. After a seaside breakfast, we journey to the rustic island interior, where our native guide leads us on ancient paths through olive groves and cork forests.

From our country inn near Oliena (2 nights), we visit a local baker…explore an archeological site with Europe's oldest stone towers…relax over lunch with a local shepherd…and enjoy an evening of traditional Sardinian dance. On the Costa Smeralda, mooring site of the yacht set, a visit to Porto Cervo precedes our eight-mile boat trip to Corsica (3 nights).

From Bonifacio, we wander to Sartene, a village that appears to be carved from a limestone mountain. Later, a scenic amble leads to an exploration of fascinating 5,000-year-old carved stone monoliths…and a visit with the owner of an olive mill for a tasting.

Next day, we banter with shopkeepers at the local market…take in the panoramic views on a breathtaking seaside walk…and join a local friend and chef for a cooking instruction and festive farewell meal. Our final morning, we depart spectacular Bonifacio and ferry back to Sardinia for flights home.
