Laos Makes Debut On Vietnam & Cambodia Walking Tour

New itinerary addition boasts river walks, ancient rituals and elephant rides

La Jolla, CA (August 2011) – Proving that a few well-placed tweaks can make a great itinerary even better, Classic Journeys has added Laos and Luang Prabang to its Vietnam & Cambodia walking tour.

"On a personal trip to Indochina in May, we were so swept away by the friendly people and culture of Laos that we decided -- virtually on the spot -- to add Luang Prabang to our existing tour," observes Edward Piegza, president and co-founder of Classic Journeys.

The result is a perfectly paced itinerary of 10 days/9 nights that showcases the natural beauty of each country the way guests have always imagined it, from the lush, green rice paddies of southern Vietnam to the river valleys of Laos and the jungles of Cambodia that envelop Angkor Wat.

Departing for the first time on October 28, the new Indochina walking adventure fromClassic Journeys will feature:

Saigon (1 night) - A guided tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels (refuge of the Viet Cong during the war), a cruise aboard a long-tail boat on the Mekong River, and a leisurely bike ride into the heart of the Mekong Delta

Danang (2 nights) - From a luxury seaside resort on China Beach, cultural visits to the riverfront city of Hoi An, the rural rice fields of Hoa Chau, and the Imperial City of Hue

Hanoi (2 nights) - Countryside walks, including a private visit to a remote village school, and a heritage tour of the city's colonial French Quarter

Halong Bay (1 night) -An overnight cruise aboard a luxury junk, an ideal vantage point for watching the sun come up among thousands of limestone islands (one of the most popular UNESCO World Heritage Sites)

Luang Prabang, Laos (2 nights) - An excursion to the night time market famous for its ethnic crafts, the centuries-old ritual of silent monks winding their way through the streets to collect their morning alms, and the chance to hitch a ride at a 2,000-acre elephant sanctuary

Siem Riep, Cambodia (1 night)- A sunrise visit to the ancient temples of Angkor Wat, with time for a privately guided tour and personal exploration later in the day, followed by a tour of the monastic complex of Preah Khan (The Sacred Sword)

Trips depart four times throughout the year: October 28 and December 28, 2011, and March 19, May 18, October 26, and December 28, 2012. Prices begin at $4,295 per person (double occupancy, land only). Internal flights of approximately $655 per person are priced separately from the land tour.
