Itinerary at a glance

The week starts at our rainforest resort at Gamboa (3 nights) on the banks of the canal. We’ll view the ships close-up at the Miraflores Locks. Then you can take a dip in the pool or head into Panama City for a guided walk.

Indiana Jones-like, we’ll jump into dugout canoes on the Chagres River and pull ashore at a native village. On one of many nature walks, we’ll scout for anteaters, crocodiles and hummingbirds that sip sugar water from your hand. On the Caribbean coast, we visit the Portobelo fortifications, named by Columbus in 1502.

After a one-hour flight to David City, some of you may want to go straight to our inn at Boquete (3 nights). The rest of us walk the Los Quetzales Trail through bamboo forests at the foot of Baru Volcano. You can’t go to the rainforest without the thrill of a zipline through the canopy, so you know where we’re headed! We’ll all get wet on a raft ride down the Chiriqui Viejo River. You’ll also have the ultimate barista experience with a tasting on a visit to a shade-grown coffee plantation.
