Everybody in your family in favor of having National Geographic moments, please raise your hands. A Nova Scotia family vacation is for you! That’s whale-watching, bog-hopping, lobster-fishing, sea kayaking, coastal walking Nova Scotia. Our kids love it here, not least because the trip to Canada’s wild and lovely maritime province doesn’t wear them out. There’s a ton of fascinating history, but you don’t feel like you’re in a museum. The towns we visit are some of the continent’s oldest settlements. And the landscapes—emphasis on rugged coastline and piney forests—are as pristine as they were when the first colonists arrived. In true Family Journeys style, our local guides enable the generations to go their separate ways once in a while. So as you get in some shopping or study the Victorian architecture, they’re taking in a butterfly garden or hearing tales from an old salt.
