Arthur's Pass Wilderness Lodge
Located on a 6,000 acre working high country ranch, Arthur’s Pass Wilderness Lodge supports 4,500 merino sheep and 150 Angus beef cattle. As guests, we have the opportunity to join the owners as they take their Border Collies on rounds. Rooms are surrounded by mountain beech and tea trees and enjoy exceptional views of the towering Southern Alps.

Starting Point: Christchurch, New Zealand - 3:00 pm

Ending Point: Queenstown, New Zealand - after breakfast

New Zealand’s seasons are the reverse of the Northern Hemisphere. The South Island has a temperate climate and is generally very comfortable.  In the summer (our winter) during our trips, the region does not have very significant temperature extremes. However it can be cool in the morning as well as the evening.

The Moas - Katie Beck
Suitable for ages 9-12, this acclaimed book is a parable about a Moa bird  (a giant, now-extinct, flightless bird of New Zealand) that must learn to fly in order to escape the Maori hunters.

A diverse anthology of New Zealand stories, arranged chronologically from Katherine Mansfield to Janet Frame, Keri Hulme and other contemporary writers of the 1980s and 1990s.
