Our goal is always to find the most interesting and memorable lodging a region offers. Here's one of our favorites from this itinerary. For a complete list, please call or email us.

Hotel Belvedere Bellagio
A lovely lakeside hotel that has been owned and operated by the Martinelli Manoni family since they first opened to visitors in 1880. Then, the charming pension was known as "La Vignetta", because of the grape vines that surrounded it. Happily, we still enjoy the same welcoming hospitality from the current generation of family members, as well as the added benefits of a pool, solarium, and lakeside terraces from which we enjoy the incredible views of the water and mountains.

Starting Point: Bellagio, Italy - 2:30 pm

Ending Point: Milan, Italy - 2:00 pm

The Italian lakes region has a temperate, Mediterranean-type climate. As a result of the lakes' moderating influence, the region does not have very significant temperature extremes.

The Italians - Luigi Barzini
The definitive portrait of the Italian people, noteworthy for its insight, grace and wit. It's a classic, scholarly essay on the Italian character, still worthwhile though first published in 1964.

A Traveller in Italy - H.V. Morton, Barbara Grizzuti Harrison (Intro)
The much-beloved, enduring account of Morton's ramblings in Italy. Morton charmingly mixes a deep appreciation of the art, culture and history with his own keen observations of the temples, tombs and villas of Tuscany, Lombardy, Emilia and the Veneto.
