Cultural Walking Adventure
Itinerary at a glance
On arrival in Guatemala City, we transfer to the colonial town of Antigua
(2 nights) with time for a guided stroll in the historic district. Our next day begins at a private coffee plantation surrounded by volcanoes and includes a scenic amble along ancient footpaths through small villages, and exploring with a local textile expert.
Some say Lake Atitlan is the world's most beautiful crater lake. You'll be able to decide for yourself as we settle into our shoreside hotel (2 nights) and enjoy nature walks in the protected wildlife reserve. A spectacular walk along the lake ends with a relaxing boat ride to the town of Santiago where we learn about Mayan beliefs from a local shaman. We've also made time for a traditional lunch and shopping in the small crafts market.
A brief flight takes us to the El Remate region (2 nights). The awesome temple of Tikal is nearby and we dedicate an entire day to the site. Enjoy exploring with our guide, as well as time on your own if you wish. On our final day, we fly back to Guatemala City.
