Classic Journeys was founded on the belief that tourism can provide income to local people, conserve the environment and promote understanding of other cultures. We also believe that we can leverage our relationships and successes for the benefit of those who are less fortunate. Among the causes that we support at Classic Journeys are the following fine organizations:
Doctors Without Borders
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters, or exclusion from health care in more than 70 countries. Each year, MSF doctors, nurses, and logisticians depart on more than 3,800 field assignments. MSF provides health care, performs surgery, carries out vaccination campaigns, and operates feeding centers for malnourished children.
ProLiteracy
In 62 developing countries around the world, thousands of adult learners are improving conditions for their families and their communities through ProLiteracy’s 120 grassroots partner programs. ProLiteracy provides training, technical assistance, and targeted local grants that combine literacy with economic self-reliance, health, education, peace, human rights, and environmental sustainability projects.
Pacific Crest Outward Bound School
At Outward Bound’s Pacific Crest School, the wilderness is a tool for personal growth. To promote diversity and personal development PCOBS maintains a strong scholarship program for urban youth from the cities of the Western United States. Since 1996 Classic Journeys has partnered with Outward Bound in raising money for scholarships that benefit the most at-risk inner city youth in life-changing participation in the courses.
WorldVision
In thousands of communities around the world, World Vision provides access to clean water, food, agricultural training, education, health care, and economic development. World Vision extends this assistance to more than 85 million people in need each year, regardless of religious beliefs, gender, race, or ethnic background.
American Red Cross
The Red Cross is committed to saving lives and easing suffering by providing relief to victims of disaster, both locally and globally. The Red Cross is responsible for half of the nation's blood supply and blood products, gives health and safety training to the public and provides emergency social services to U.S. military members and their families. In the wake of an earthquake, tornado, flood, fire, hurricane or other disaster, it provides relief services to communities across the country.
UNICEF
Founded in 1946, UNICEF helps save, protect and improve the lives of children in 155 countries and territories through immunization, education, health care, nutrition, clean water and sanitation. UNICEF is non-partisan and its cooperation is free of discrimination. In everything it does, the most disadvantaged children and the countries in greatest need have priority.
