Set in sub-tropical gardens leading to the sea, above the beautiful fishing village of Mousehole, the Old Coastguard Hotel is thoroughly up-to-date, yet steeped in tradition. Watch the world sail by along the timeless harbor, stroll through the garden leading to the beach, or relax at the glass fronted brasserie and bar. The hotel offers lovely rooms, furnished with clean and modern furniture, relaxed and friendly staff, and panoramic views of Mounts Bay.

England, and the Cornwall peninsula in particular, has a temperate climate. In the summer during our trips, the region does not have very significant temperature extremes.

Daphne du Maurier lived in Cornwall for most of her life. This book chronicles all aspects of this part of England, fusing history, anecdote and travelogue in a plea for Cornwall's preservation.
