We meet in Buenos Aires (1 night) and wander with our guide through La Boca district to San Telmo's antique market.

Bariloche is the Switzerland of South America. We reach it by plane and check into our luxurious mountain resort (3 nights). It's the perfect base for our exploration of the Lake District. You'll have time to kayak on Lake Nahuel Huapi with our guide. Back on shore we follow some of the world's most scenic footpaths, up the slopes of an extinct volcano, for amazing views of the surrounding lakes and peaks. As time permits, you may even get in some optional fly fishing.

In the morning we fly south to El Calafate (3 nights) in the heart of Patagonia. Our destinations include the spectacular Perito Moreno Glacier and a walk through a bird reserve that teems with flamingo and black-necked swans. We'll amble through quiet beech forests and take a guided trek onto the glacier's surface. You'll also have options to go 4-wheeling into the mountains with a stop at a sheep-shearing house or to hike through fascinating Fossils Canyon. On our final day, we fly back to Buenos Aires where we part company.
